Built for

Drone operators, surveillance teams and training leads

Primary outcome

Organised aircraft, camera observations and mission records.

A closer look

Prepare the fleet. Review the view. Build operator confidence.

Sentinel SkyWatch gives drone teams a local workspace for aircraft, sites, camera observations and recorded missions. The operator flies with the aircraft’s own controller while the team reviews supported video inputs. A separate practice lab provides a simulated place to train.

The fleet overview

Review registered aircraft, site context and recent workspace activity.

Follow the work from preparation to review.

WORKFLOW 01

Prepare a mission with clear aircraft ownership

The administrator registers the aircraft, associates it with a site and assigns the responsible operator. Ready, On mission and Maintenance describe the team’s recorded operational status and help colleagues understand which aircraft is available.

The register does not replace the aircraft manufacturer’s pre-flight checklist, controller or flight recorder. The operator remains responsible for the physical aircraft, the operating environment and the permissions required for the mission. Site records provide context for the observation workflow.

  1. Register the intended aircraft and operating site.
  2. Assign the operator and confirm recorded readiness.
  3. Keep the status and observations current through the mission.

WORKFLOW 02

Bring the observation back to the team

A supported capture device or receiver can expose the aircraft’s camera as a video input. The team reviews that input through the camera workspace, uses configured detection tools and keeps relevant captures and observations for reporting.

Input quality, practical latency, browser permissions and processing capacity affect the result. Thermal interpretation needs suitable hardware and calibration; a coloured image palette alone does not measure heat. Aircraft flight control remains with the operator’s own equipment.

  1. Confirm the intended camera or capture input.
  2. Review observations and the original source image.
  3. Record useful captures, alerts and mission context.

WORKFLOW 03

Train before the next real assignment

The practice lab provides a procedural city, a tactical map and supported keyboard, on-screen and compatible controller inputs. Training exercises give the operator a place to practise movement, landing and surveillance tasks within a simulated environment.

Treat practice as familiarisation. It is separate from live aircraft control and does not establish flight certification or manufacturer-specific proficiency. Validate controller mappings before an exercise and review the experience with the training lead afterwards.

  1. Choose a suitable practice exercise and input method.
  2. Practise positioning, observation and a controlled landing.
  3. Review the exercise and agree the next training focus.

People and responsibilities

Give each role a clear part in the process.

Administrator

Manage accounts, sites, registered aircraft and application security policy.

Assigned operator

Maintain mission status and review the camera input while flying with the aircraft controller.

Surveillance reviewer

Examine authorised feeds, alerts and captured observations.

Training lead

Use simulated practice missions to develop operator familiarity.

Illustrative examples

Where the product can fit your work.

A perimeter flight needs a record

An operator surveys an authorised site.

  1. Select the aircraft and confirm its camera input.
  2. Review relevant detections and site alerts.
  3. Save observations and review the mission report.

Practical value: Aircraft responsibility and camera events remain organised.

Requirements: The operator flies independently using the aircraft controller.

A thermal input supports night review

The aircraft provides genuine thermal video.

  1. Confirm the camera type and scale assumptions.
  2. Review hot-spots and palette views.
  3. Compare the observation with the original feed.

Practical value: Viewing tools retain the limits of the input.

Requirements: Visible-light pseudo-thermal cannot establish measured temperature.

Several aircraft feeds need monitoring

A team reviews multiple authorised inputs.

  1. Link each input to the intended aircraft.
  2. Connect the wall and review events.
  3. Maintain mission status and operator assignments.

Practical value: The team can follow responsibility across the inputs.

Requirements: Capture channels, browser support and computer capacity must be tested.

An operator practises landing

A training lead selects the separate practice lab.

  1. Choose the mission and input method.
  2. Fly in the simulated world using its sensor view.
  3. Review the exercise and repeat with suitable settings.

Practical value: Operators can practise the application workflow without a real aircraft.

Requirements: Practice does not certify the operator for live flight.

These scenarios explain workflows using fictional examples.

Architecture and integrations

Plan each connection around its real requirements.

Aircraft and controller

The operator flies using the manufacturer’s own equipment.

Video connection

A supported capture device or receiver exposes the feed as a camera input.

Sentinel SkyWatch workspace

The local browser/application organise cameras, aircraft, rules and observations.

Data and training

Configured local storage holds records/media; the separate practice lab simulates flying.

Controller video output

Compatible receiver or capture device exposing a supported input.

This is video review, not aircraft command/control integration.

Visible / thermal camera

Appropriate hardware and camera type selection.

Thermal interpretation requires real thermal input and calibration.

Site alerts

Configured categories, thresholds and notification permissions.

Test sound and desktop notification delivery.

Maps and place search

Configured external imagery and search providers.

These need their network services; the practice city is procedural.

Practice controllers

Compatible browser gamepad, on-screen sticks or keyboard.

Test mappings, dead zones and disconnect behavior.

Reporting and follow-up

Keep useful outputs connected to their context.

  • Recorded missions and incidents for a reporting period.
  • Site alert acknowledgements and detection activity.
  • Captured snapshots and video observations.
  • Ledger integrity checks and printed/PDF report outputs.

Before you share

Review the selected scope, source records and intended audience. Confirm which staff may export or retain the output and protect downloaded files under your organisation’s policy.

Before you decide

Questions your team may ask.

Does Sentinel SkyWatch fly the aircraft?

No. The operator uses the aircraft’s own controller; Sentinel SkyWatch reviews video and organises observations.

Is the practice lab a live-flight system?

No. The city, flight telemetry and detection sensor are simulated.

Can any camera measure heat?

No. Heat interpretation requires thermal hardware and calibration.

How many simultaneous feeds are guaranteed?

The supported deployment count depends on capture hardware, browser support and measured computer capacity.

Can everything operate without internet?

Local features can run locally; maps, search and initial provisioning may need network services.

What does a quote include?

The agreed software deployment, capture arrangements, training and support. Aircraft and specialist hardware need an explicit commercial scope.

Sentinel SkyWatch product scope

Sentinel SkyWatch does not fly a real aircraft. Operators use the aircraft’s own controller. The practice lab is a simulation; its detections and flight telemetry are training data.

Your next step
